The war was over and the prosperous post-war years were in full swing. The Truman Doctrine was announced to confront totalitarianism, the U.N. was established in New York City and a young diva named Maria Callas made her debut. In 1947, Chrysler made only a few changes on its models. Whitewall tyres became available for the first time that year, enabling the rear fenders to allow larger wheelhouse openings. That year, Chrysler cars weighed and cost a bit more, but the Town and Country remained the optimal vehicle for both the suburbs and the city. The Town and Country two-door convertible was fitted on a New Yorker chassis powered by a magnificent L-head 8 cylinder 323.5 cubic inch engine. Indeed, all the Town and Country models on the New Yorker chassis were convertibles; if you wanted a hard-top, you had to settle for a six-cylinder engine. Town and Country elegance was enhanced by Highlander upholstery, All-Weather Air Control and a choice of two radios (6-tube or 8-tube). Now, the strikingly handsome 1947 Chrysler Town and Country 2-door convertible is recreated in an elegant tan die-cast model that captures all the classic beauty of the original automobile.
